Are there any hidden braces?
Lingual braces are a type of orthodontic treatment where the braces are placed on the inner surface of the teeth, making them virtually invisible from the outside. This discreet option provides the same level of effectiveness as traditional braces, but with the added benefit of being hidden from view.
Lingual braces, also known as lingual brackets, represent the most advanced aesthetic orthodontic treatment. They are an alternative to traditional external brackets, allowing for the correction of all types of orthodontic problems without anyone noticing that you are wearing braces!
How Are They Made?
Their design is customized for each patient individually. They are manufactured in a specialized dental laboratory abroad and are made from a special alloy of precious or semi-precious metal to ensure a high level of biocompatibility within the oral cavity.
Advantages of Lingual Braces:
- Completely invisible, as they are placed on the inner surface of the teeth.
- No restrictions or contraindications for their use.
- Easy adaptation due to their small size.
Are There Any Drawbacks?
The only notable disadvantage is the increased need for oral hygiene. Since lingual braces are positioned on the inner side of the teeth, extra care is required to keep them clean. However, a variety of special brushes (interdental) and devices (e.g., waterjet) make this process much easier.
Also, the patient’s adjustment time, especially in speech, is usually a bit longer than with conventional braces.
